Setting A Deadline [Plata o Plomo Parable]

Whenever someone has asked me why they haven’t had success yet..

I always ask them, “If it turns out to be something inside YOU that has to change, will you have the courage to do it?”..

Most say “YES”, some are honest with themselves and just stop there..

I challenge you to dig deeper & ask yourself – “what really motivates me?, What rewards do i find especially satisfying? What brings me joy?”

motivation-hierarchy-of-needs

Whatever it may be.. the bottom line is..

The problem will ALWAYS BEGIN AND END WITH YOU..

That may sting like salt in a wound, but you know, Why?

Because YOU are the ONLY THING YOU can control..

Everything else is a “variable”..

And in marketing and business, we don’t stress over variables, we split-test them..

As long as you become the ONE DEPENDENT.. we can formulate success..

The Common Struggles

There are roughly 3 categories that 99% of people will fall into as being one of their biggest catalyst that stand in the way of their success.. Don’t feel ashamed to have a similar issue [or different one].. YOU ARE NOT ALONE..

  1. Procrastinator
  2. Penny-Pincher [aka you’re not as broke as you think]
  3. Overactive Achievers

Just be willing to change it.. and it’ll happen.. life is weird like that..

The Secret of Change Quote

So let’s break each down, shall we?

PROCRASTINATOR

Easy to understand.. but includes a wide range of people. If you find yourself getting things done “late” – even if you are a hard worker. You’ve put the wrong things TO DO on top of your list. You need to have a focus and a deadline & re-organize your list so that WHAT MAKES YOU THE MOST MONEY is most important.

Let’s face it, the way we think.. that doesn’t always happen. So take a second look and figure out if you are spending your time daily COMPLETING YOUR CHIEF GOAL, or wasting it away on #2-100.

PENNY-PINCHER

Whenever you find that you “don’t have enough to get started”.. it’s just a lazy way of saying – I don’t wanna make it work. So you end up going the “free” route and it takes years and years and you’re stuck with the same #s in your bank account a decade later.

I always tell people who save and pinch pennies OR even say they “don’t have money” to ask themselves the parable of “TIME vs MONEY” as related to in the Christian Bible..

One of Jesus’ most significant parables regarding work is set in the context of investments (Matt. 25:14-30). A rich man delegates the management of his wealth to his servants, much as investors in today’s markets do. He gives 5 talents (a large unit of money)[1] to the first servant, 2 talents to the second, and 1 talent to the third. Two of the servants earn 100% returns by trading with the funds, but the third servant hides the money in the ground and earns nothing. The rich man returns, rewards the two who made money, but severely punishes the servant who did nothing.

The meaning of the parable is, the servant who received one talent was not condemned for failing to reach the 5 talent goal; he was condemned because he did nothing with what he was given.

Much the same with what you have today. There are lots of things around your house that you can sell on eBay to get some extra funds going. There are things in your life you can cut out to have more money to work with (cook & eat at home more, cancel TV & Netflix, etc.).

Not only SAVING MONEY so you can now take that extra income and speed up your success (by paying for traffic instead of waiting YEARS for “free”). On top of that, when I first started – I leveraged my credit cards A LOT and it made me a lot of money too. Now, I didn’t blow $1,000 in a day.. more like $50 a day > $1500 a month > making $2000. After 3 months, I was able to DOUBLE my investments into a “winning funnel” and launch a 6-figure empire QUICKLY!

OVERACTIVE ACHIEVERS

The biggest things an Overactive Achiever [OA for short] has for an issue, is putting too much on their plate. If you’re this type of person.. you’ve either never heard of, forgotten, don’t apply the 80/20 Rule in your life.

Which states, 80% of your riches, success, happiness will come from 20% of what you do/have/experience. AND IT’S TRUE!

I was just like this for a while. I wanted to do 101 things to make sure I didn’t have “all my eggs in 1 basket” sort-of-deal. But you know where that led me. To a big, fat, ugly loss at every dealing in business..

No, it didn’t happen instantly.. but it happened EVENTUALLY..

In fact, I built 4 6-figure businesses before I realized this.. and now I’ve finally been able to focus on my ONE SERVICE that makes me most of my money.. coaching.

It’s no surprise that my coaching costs $12,000 – $100,000. Why though?

Because I take people who have great success already, and make small changes in their life/sales funnel that DOUBLE IT. If you could double your business in the next 90 days – would you do it?

YES.. YOU WOULD and 100’s already have!

And that’s the 80/20 rule in motion. I found I didn’t need 101 services, businesses or employees. I only needed 1 really great thing. That was all.

Now once you find what THAT ONE THING IS..

You clear out all your schedule, to-do lists, appointments – and you re-write the entire thing (and forever) with that ONE THING being the centerfold. Everything else in life takes backseat to it.. if you do this, in a year – you’re going to find yourself further than you ever dreamed.

Plata o Plomo

How to Find Your Drive

It’s 1978 and Pablo Escobar (famous cocaine runner of the 70’s & 80’s) has found his perfect way to get what he wants done. Tired of bribing and talking.. he creates the phrase “plata o plomo”, which literally translates into “silver or lead”.

So what does this cocaine runner have to do with your business? .. EVERYTHING!

See, Escobar was the KING of Coke (and in the late 70’s and 80’s coke was the drug of choice!) whenever  wanted to sell his product without issue, he’d go to the local police in the middle of the night with a bag of silver & a gun. With a gun pointed at their head – he’d ask them, “plata o plomo, manana?”.

Which means, “silver or lead – choose one by tomorrow”. Guess what almost EVERYBODY (that lived) chose..

Yeah! You bet your sweet a** they said Silver!

So how does this help you in business.. ?

Well, whether you are a overachiever, “just average” or a procrastinator – you MUST set a “Silver or Lead” deadline to have your sales funnel finished. That’s why they call it a dead-line…Whatever that goal is – if  it isn’t done by your deadline – you’ll either finish on time or accept the “death” of your dreams & creating an online business.

WHY IS THIS SO IMPORTANT?

Let me tell you what it does for me.

GETS. SHIT. DONE.

What My Deadline Did for Me

A “Silver or Lead” deadline is what made me create my 1st funnel, get traffic, create my 1st product (same way I show you how to fill all of your value ladder) – ALL IN 14 DAYS.

And let me tell you, it took me another 30 DAYS to get my sales funnel perfected with split testing. So I didn’t have a Self Liquidating Offer (SLO Funnel) until Day 45!!

Which means, if I didn’t set a deadline, I wouldn’t have seen success maybe until 5-6 months later..

Since I got everything done up front, I was able to fail quicker right away and perfect my funnel in a short period..

And these were mistakes THAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED..

But learning fast, made me $22,227.12 on Month #6.

Everything will have mistakes that need correctin [and some don’t]..

But if you start today, you can fix the mistakes tomorrow.. not next week.. not later [if ever]..

I can honestly say, if I didn’t have my “Silver or Lead” deadline, I may still be working on my 1st course, rather than updating and helping 100’s [now thousands] of people through my daily emails and posts that link back to a fuller story..
